Dios Habla Hoy Presbyterian Church
Church in a Middle Class Neighborhood of Tijuana
|
|
Pueblos Hermanos began as the bi-national
mission team sent to Tijuana by the Mexican and U.S. Presbyterian churches
to plant a Presbyterian church in a middle class neighborhood of this
important border city, so that a strong, middle class Presbyterian church
could resource mission in other parts of the city and not always be
dependent upon outside help.

| Founded by the Pueblos Hermanos bi-national mission team in
1985, Dios Hable Hoy Presbyterian Church was chartered in 1991 and now has 70 members. In 1997 Rev.
Luis Manuel Lugo became its first called pastor. It is the only
Presbyterian church in Baja California which is self-supporting (although
Pueblos Hermanos does give $100 a month which could be considered rent for
the street entrance office it uses in the churches facilities).
Its members helped found the Programa Salud y Vida Community Health and
Development ministry of Pueblos Hermanos and along with that program the
Nueva Vida Congregation in El Pipila, Tijuana. For several years it
provided Sunday school for the children of the Casa de la Esperanza
Orphanage. It's installations are used as the center of the
Presbytery, it having the largest, most centrally located site. The
Presbyterian Seminary of Tijuana has its classes there, and extra large
mission teams stay there while breaking up into smaller teams to work with
various missions in Tijuana and Tecate. |
